LISBURN CRICKET CLUB HOLDS AGM AND AWARDS NIGHT
On Saturday 29th October, Lisburn Cricket Club held its 175th Annual General Meeting, and its annual Players Awards Night.
After several years of service, Ian Ross stood down as club chairman and all of those present applauded Ian for his diligent efforts over the last number of years. It was remarked that his retirement from work came at a timely juncture, or he may well have been facing divorce proceedings, such was the commitment he had given to the club in the last few seasons.
The following office bearers were elected
President: Gary Blair, Senior VP: Trevor McKeown, Chairman: Dean Simpson, Vice Chairman and Honorary Secretary; Michael Foster, Honorary Membership Secretary: Seymour Murphy, 1st XI Captain – David Simpson, 2nd XI Captain – David Graham, 3rd XI Captain – Alan Darragh, 4th XI Match Secretary – Gary Blair, Midweek Captain – Joe Hardial, Vice captains – 1st XI, Robert Rankin, 2nd XI – Glenn Halliday.
The incoming Chairman indicated that he looked forward to overseeing further progress for the club both on and off the field and called on all members, both present and absent to redouble their efforts and lend their support in this quest.
The Players Awards Night took place after the AGM and the following prizes were awarded.
U13 Player of the Year – Matthew Lightbody
U15 Player of the Year – Ryan Moore
Most Improved Young Player – James McCallan
Henry McAuley award for most improved young seam bowler – Mark Hylands
Young Player Award – Mark Berry
Midweek Player of the Year – Neil Anderson
3rd XI Player of the Year – Neal McDowell
2nd XI Player of the Year – Richard Booth
1st XI Player of the Year – David Simpson.
