Hendog is now a firmly established favourite at the Burn, with his easy manner and ready wit making him an instantly likeable character. And he has proven to be more than a useful asset on the playing side since making the trip up from Queensway a few years back and he has developed into one of the key players on the Lisburn side.

His prime skill is his bowling and he had a superb first season for the club in 2009 when he was the leading wicket taker and was exltremely economical. He added to this in 2010 with another consistent year and he is one of the most useful off spinners in the NCU at the moment.

A more than handy batsman, Hennie can provide a little bit of long handle when the need is must, but can also battle when his side are in trouble and there have been several occasions on which he has led the way with the bat and given his side something to defend.

HenDog has found friends easy to come by at Wallace Park, the tall South African enjoying a decent social life with his mates at the club. Enjoying work down at Euro Car Parts, Hennie becomes eligible for Ireland before the start of next season – could he join his brother in the Ireland ranks?? Well, if not, 1stXI fans can be assured of another good shift in 2011 from the man from Paarl.
